Getting the most out of www.fultonhistory.com
FultonHistory.com, or Old Fulton NY Postcards, is a free, historic newspaper website that contains archives of almost 1,000 New York newspapers, along with collections from other states and Canada. Found frequently on Family Tree Magazine’s Top 100 Websites over the years, FultonHistory.com is certainly a site that researchers and historians want to be familiar with to get the best results from over 50 million pages of microfilmed newspaper images. Jeanette Sheliga introduces you to a variety of search practices for and follows up with advanced techniques to make the most of this extensive website.
This is a two-part course.
Part One (2 hours) introduces you to the site and takes you through the extensive resources which are freely available. Basic search processes are demonstrated and discussed.
Part Two (2 hours) takes you through more advanced methods using the full functionality of fultonhistory.com. This includes search options for the words you input, for example, “all of the words,” “any of the words, “the exact phrase,” and “boolean.”
Have your search queries ready so you can practise during the sessions.
Part One – 11 April, 2022 @ 7pm (EASTERN US)
Part Two – 26 April, 2022 @ 7pm (EASTERN US)
Cost for both Part One and Part Two: $75 (US dollars)
